Customize Fields

The user defined field facility enables you to customize the look and feel and naming to best suit your needs. In this section we discuss the various ways you can customize these fields

Rename Fields

Using terminology that is relevant to your project is important.

Perhaps you would prefer to call Tasks "Issues", "topics", or "goals"?

If that's your taste, you can simply rename any database field in the spreadsheets by editing the "Field Name" Spreadsheet

Dropdown Field Lists

Drop-down fields make entering repetitive information into the Project and Resource spreadsheet a snap.

Just create your own comma-separated list in the Field Names spreadsheet and you'll see them appear in your Projects or Resources spreadsheet.

Sliding and Hideable Fields

Hideable Fields

You can hide fields in the Project and Resources spreadsheet that are not relevant to your project. This can simplify a difficult to read page into something you can actually use

Right click on the top header row (the white area) of the Projects Spreadsheet and select the Hide/Show option...then check or uncheck the columns you want to see,

Sliding Fields

Many JCVGantt users use the spreadsheets to enter project information, but each person has their own particular opinion as to which data should be entered first.

If you don't like the order of fields in the Project or Resource spreadsheet, why not simply move them?

Slide the titles in the Project or Resource spreadsheet to the left or right to place them in another location.

Drag and drop any column title sliding it to the left or the right
