WristNotes™
Audio File and Share
Solution
James Bond Would
Be Impressed
"Cliff, could you call the
distributor in England that ordered this morning and check if he got
his license keys?", I shouted into my watch while driving to an
appointment. I had suddenly remembered I'd forgotten to contact the
client myself.
When I arrived at my destination, I
connected my watch to my laptop and up popped WristNotes File and
Share™ software.
In four clicks I not only e-mailed
the audio file to our Director of Customer Care at I & A Research
but also set a reminder to popup in a day or so to see if the
job had been done!
That's an example of best practices
when using the Guerin G-1 USB Dictation Watch with Wristnotes
software. Have an idea? Say it... forget it.
When you're home or at the office, plug it in and send it, file it
or store a reminder.
Getting Things
Done Using Wristnotes
In David Allen's book, "Getting
Things Done - The Art of Stress Free Productivity" (a book
we highly recommend you read as your organizational Bible) he
teaches that you need to have one "Inbox" for things to do, and as
you look at each one you can "Do it", "Archive it", "Delegate it" or
"Do it later"
Wristnotes software treats the
watches dictation memory as an inbox of ideas, thoughts, tasks you
record during the day. When you open the software you can - Send it
to a Contact (i.e. delegate it), Sent it to a Folder (i.e. archive
it), Set a reminder (i.e. do it later), or act upon it immediately
and delete it.
Simple? Yes, we thought so, too.
In simplicity lies great power.
Two products to
form one solution
WristNotes Audio File and Share™
Solution includes both
- the GUERIN MP3 Dictation Watch
...AND...
- Our proprietary Wristnotes
Audio File and Share™ software to optimize your business
workflow.
The GUERIN G-1 watch is a very high
quality dictation
recorder / MP3 player with 1Gb USB flash disk capable of recording
7-8 hours of audio continuously on the road with you. Use it to
listen to Mp3 music, audio-books or record notes, dictations and
lectures directly using the built-in microphone.
When you get home, connect it our Dave Allen-inspired
organizational software to allow you
to organize your dictations into a powerful business "inbox" for
ideas, by adding text notes and using the drag/drop folders to file
each dictation into it's proper file.
The software allows you to e-mail or
FTP dictation files to colleagues, "rip" CD audio directly to the
watch, and file your music and dictations properly.
As you can imagine, this is the
perfect holiday gift for the executive in your life who has
everything. In many places, it's even tax deductible as a business
expense, and as "cool a tool", as they come.
How it came to
be...
Here's the story of how it came to
be.
One day, our company CEO,
Charles Guerin sat in his reading chair, with a somewhat
overweight cat on his
lap, looking for a pad of paper to write down ideas, with
no pen in reach, no laptop handy, and no dictation recorder
close by.
Though
having ample high tech gear at his disposal, there was no
immediate solution to allow him to simply take a note that
wouldn't upset the sleeping cat.
Obviously this was a critical
problem for cat owners everywhere, but perhaps the cats were
the tip of the iceberg of a more general problem.
He thought about all the lost
ideas, forgotten in cars, in restaurants, hiking in the
woods...it seemed all the best ideas came at precisely the
time when he was away from paper and computers.
Something was needed that
you could wear.
Hanging a dictation recorder from
one's neck would be a rather ugly piece of jewellery, so the idea
of a watch began to emerge.
- What if...
you could simply speak into your
watch and record all your notes?
- What if...that
watch could send the message routing to employees so that you
could simply say "Cliff: Call the customer in NY", and
e-mail it with one click the next time you were near a computer?
- What if...
the transcript of a book could be
read into the watch while waiting for a plane and instantly
uploaded to a transcriptionist!
- Or...the
watch could talk to you and read your agenda back to you!
Maybe it could play Audio
books, and high quality audio too?
Perhaps it could carry computer
files from place to place so you'd always be able to carry
your actual notes with you wherever you went.
It would need to be able to
record several hours of notes at one time, and would allow
you to record meetings, lectures without any time limit.
All this became the core of
what is now the
Wristnotes Audio Workflow
Solution.
Austria's finest electronic watchmaker, LAKS produced the watch and
Charles Guerin Designs produced a software workflow system
to make the dream a reality.
What to do with it...
Since that time, pilots use the
GUERIN G-1 watch with WristNotes to log in-flight notes and
store their aircraft manuals.
Students use it to record
lectures, while musicians use WristNotes to help them
remember their parts.
Patients can use it as a reference
tool to help them keep track of their prescription
medication when they visit with their doctor.
The ways to
use it are endless.
