Charles Guerin

Charles Guerin, President of I & A Research Inc, is a software architect with 20 years of experience in moving products from the drawing board to the market.

In 1987, he started I & A Research Inc., with an electronic engineer to create microcontroller-based products. Over the years, the company changed their focus to developing application software.

Currently the company has 7 full-time, 4 part-time employees and 8 subcontractors.

The list of software and firmware products that Charles has been involved in designing and/or realizing is extensive, including: Music synthesizers and digital sequencers in Japan for Korg and Yamaha, high-speed multimedia databases for the Canadian Military, Kodak and Fuji, high performance 100,000,000 hit web sites, real time operating systems for industrial microcontrollers, huge networked industrial control systems for air quality and temperature control, credit card gateway processing systems, and a host of smaller software products for a variety of companies.

In 1998-1999, managing an outsourced project where the workers lived in Russia, from Canada, led to a stint as Vice-President of Siberlink Inc, an Austin-based company that outsourced Russian and Ukranian programming talent to US companies. He built the company from 6 programmers and 1 project to 60 programmers and 23 projects before leaving to focus on technology development at I and A Research Inc., in October 1999.

As an accomplished studio pianist, Charles has appeared on various Cds, including Montreal guitarist Ian Hanchet's CD First Love, and performed in a variety of jazz festivals, including the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Newport Jazz Festival, and the Merv Griffin show where he appeared in a big band with Dizzy Gillespie. As composer, he has worked on cartoons for Hanna Barbera, and a film for Les Productions Rozon.
